چکیده
A model-based technique for quantitative analysis of three-dimensional magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is presented. The model consists of a deformable B-spline representation of the central vessel axis and the vessel wall. An efficient interaction mechanism to initialize the models in a three-dimensional setting is devised. Two novel image features are introduced in order to deform the central vessel axis and the vessel wall model respectively. A segmental optimization scheme for deforming the B-spline vessel wall model is introduced. Finally, the paper presents results on clinical contrast enhanced (CE) MRA of 19 carotid arteries. Percentages of stenosis obtained with our technique are compared to those of two experts using caliper measurements on Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP) CE MRA, and Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) as stan-

Contrast-enhanced three-dimensional fast imaging with steady-state precession (FISP) MR angiography of supraaortic vessels: preliminary results.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of contrast-enhanced fast three-dimensional (3D) MR angiography in depicting both the carotid and vertebral arteries in their cervical portions and to compare MR angiography with conventional angiography for the evaluation of arteriosclerotic disease. METHODS Twenty-seven patients with ischemic cerebral events in...
متن کاملAccuracy of contrast-enhanced MR angiography in predicting angiographic stenosis of the internal carotid artery: linear regression analysis.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE We sought to assess whether contrast-enhanced MR angiography is able to predict the degree of angiographic stenosis of the internal carotid artery within a clinically acceptable margin of error, thereby decreasing the need for angiography. In addition, we sought to assess whether adding ultrasound peak systolic velocity (PSV) as an additional regressor improves the accura...
متن کاملProspective evaluation of carotid artery stenosis: elliptic centric contrast-enhanced MR angiography and spiral CT angiography compared with digital subtraction angiography.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is the reference standard for assessing carotid arteries, it is uncomfortable for patients and has a small risk of disabling stroke and death. These problems have fueled the use of spiral CT angiography and MR angiography. We prospectively compared elliptic centric contrast-enhanced MR angiography and spiral CT angiography wi...
متن کاملCarotid Artery Stenosis: Comparison of 3D Time-of-Flight MR Angiography and Contrast-Enhanced MR Angiography at 3T
Purpose. The aim of this study was to assess the correlation of 3D time-of-flight MR angiography (TOF MRA) and contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CEMRA) for carotid artery stenosis evaluation at 3T. Material and Methods. Twenty-three patients (5 f, 18 m; mean age 61 y, age range 45-78 y) with internal carotid artery stenosis detected with ultrasonography were examined on a 3.0T MR system. The MR...
